How Do Roller Shutter Garage Doors Work?
The shutters of a roller shutter garage door curtain are usually made from high-quality aluminium cross slats that are joined together and are otherwise known as skins. They are held in place across the door by a two guide rails which are positioned vertically on the inside edges of the garage door. These guide rails also provide an upwards directional pathway for the shutter curtain to travel when it is opened.
At the top of a single guide rail sits a motor unit which spins a horizontal axle also held in place at the top of the opposite guide rail. This spinning axle is what windes and raises the curtain when it is opened. The unique feature of the roller shutter door is that the shutter curtain roles into a coil around this axel which is very economical in terms of space.
